Ride Report: James River Heritage Trail in Lynchburg

Our 13 cyclists gathered on Friday, July 8, at 10 am at the free public parking next to Bikes Unlimited [map]. We rode the James River Heritage Trail west for 3.5 miles before it merged into the Blackwater Creek Trail. The ride continued to the trailhead for another couple of miles.

The bike trail was cool on the tree-lined path and especially cool riding through the Hollis Mill Tunnel.

We turned east for the ride back and continue across the James River for another 3.5 miles to the trail's end. After stowing our gear, we walked to the Water Dog Restaurant just a couple of blocks west. The restaurant is known for its oysters and seafood fair. Great food and a fun gathering place.
