The Wintergreen Sporting Club 2019 Archery Invitational Tournament & Picnic on October 22 went exactly as planned, which is to say it rained on Tuesday, so the meal was moved to the Rodes Farm pavilion and the tournament was held on Wednesday.

We were told that this section of the river has gentle riffles. It did. A lot of them. There were deep stretches for swimming. And we saw the towering limestone cliff at the Class II Compton’s Rapid, which team handled with style. The summer storms thankfully went elsewhere.

Wintergreen Sporting Club

This all-volunteer Wintergreen group is focused on biking, shooting, archery, hiking, boating, and fishing in and around Nelson County, Va.

 

Wintergreen Sporting Club membership ($25 a year per person) is limited to Wintergreen property owners and their adult family members. Memberships are also available for local residents not owning Wintergreen property if they are sponsored by a Wintergreen property-owning WSC member. Join here
