2025 WSC Biking Schedule

The 2025 ride schedule is below. More details will be emailed to the WSC biking newsletter list as we get closer to each event such as the weather forecast, where to park, and the road surface, as well as details on any activities before or after the ride.
Our schedule covers several familiar nearby rides no more than a two-hour drive away. The schedule lists rides we have done in the past such as the Piney River RR Trail, Chessie River RR Trail near Lexington, Jackson River Trail near Covington, the Capital Trail near Charles City, Middlebrook road ride, High Bridge RR Trail in Farmville and Heritage RR Trail in Lynchburg as well as a new planned ride to Monticello and a couple of overnight trips. I am excited about a combination event in late May with our hiking group leaders to SW Virginia (stay in Abingdon) with one day biking the famed Creeper Trail and the next day hiking awesome Grayson Highlands which is probably the prettiest state park in Virginia. In addition, Dennis Bryant plans to lead a weekend ride in mid-October touring historic Yorktown and Jamestown. We will conclude the schedule with a year-end conclave riding our Stoney Creek Roads ending with drinks and food probably at the Tuckahoe Clubhouse.

WSC BIKE SCHEDULE FOR 2025
Piney River RR Trail Friday 3/28 Lead: Chris Corish
Meet at Piney River parking lot @ 10:30 am, followed by lunch at DBB or 3 Notch.
Chessie Trail, Lexington Friday 4/25
Leads: Larry and Karen Reagan
Meet at old Buena Vista Rd parking @ 10:30 am, lunch plans to follow.
Combo Biking/Hiking trip to SW VA Fri-Sun, May 30 - June 1
Leads: Chris Corish (Biking), Mary Lou and Wayne Mortimer (Hiking)
May 30th: Meet in Abingdon by 1 pm, bike the Creeper Trail from Damascus to Abingdon
May 31st: Meet in Abingdon at 9 am, hike in Grayson Highlands State Park.
Will need advanced hotel reservations and include Friday group dinner as well as maybe a show at the Barter Theater. More to come soon.
Jackson River Trail, Covington June TBD

Meet in Dressler Rd Parking @ 11:00 am, with plans to follow.
High Bridge Trail, Farmville Friday 7/04

Meet at the lower parking lot off N Main @10:30 am, followed by lunch at Charley’s.
Monticello Ride (new) Fri or Sat, 7/17 or 7/18

Lynchburg Heritage Trail Friday, 8/8

Meet in Jefferson St parking lot @ 10:30 am, lunch afterwards at The Water Dog.
Middlebrook Road Ride Friday 8/29
Meet in the Mercantile lot @ 10:30 am, lunch afterwards at The Mercantile. (LEAD: TBD)
Capital Trail, Charles City Friday 9/19

Meet at Upper Shirley Vineyard @ 11:00 am, lunch halfway at Indian Fields Tavern.
Yorktown/Jamestown Fri-Sun 10/10-10/12
Lead: Dennis Bryant
Overnight trip. Meet in Yorktown and plans from there. Will need advance hotel reservations. More to come.
Stoney Creek Ride Friday 11/7
Meet at Tuckahoe Clubhouse, ride followed by year end conclave. Social Committee Conclave leads Sandi Nettina and Michelle Gamble.
